Harold Alfond Center for the Advancement of Maine's Workforce
- Partnership with the Maine Community College System (MCCS). This initiative coordinates all short-term workforce training programs for Maine's community colleges.
- For Career Seekers: find information about free training, scholarships, and job-specific information about salaries and occupational outlook.
Maine CareerCenters
- Funded by the Maine Department of Labor (MDOL), the Maine CareerCenters provide a variety of employment and training services at no charge for Maine workers and businesses.
- For Career Seekers: learn about free and low-cost trainings, scholarship programs, hiring events, and support with resume and job preparation.
MDOL Tuition Remission Program
- This program supports employers by investing in skills development for their current staff and offers individuals help in achieving their healthcare career goals and advancing on their career ladder.
- For Career Seekers: get connected to Healthcare Career Navigators to support you in understanding the education, training, and career pathways available to you in the healthcare field. Additionally, Maine residents who are healthcare workers may be eligible for financial assistance through the Tuition Remission Program to obtain short term (18 months or less) training for certification, industry- recognized credential or specialization, and/or career advancement. Finance Authority of Maine
- This program offers several resources to help Mainers of all ages plan, save, and pay for education after high school.

Maine Career Exploration Program
- Available through the Maine Department of Economic and Community Development (MDECD). This program offers up to 75 hours of paid work experience for Maine’s youth ages 16-24.
- For Career Seekers: career exploration offered by Jobs for Maine Graduates at high schools and career and technical education programs, as well as adult education programs.
Post-Baccalaureate, Pre-Clinical Healthcare Gap Year Program
- This program is available through Northeastern University's Roux Institute in Portland. This non-degree program allows aspiring healthcare professionals to gain valuable experience in providing direct patient care or essential behind-the-scenes services.
- For Career Seekers: work with staff at the Roux Institute to get connected to employers for interviews. If accepted into the program, housing stipends, career development counseling, and networking opportunities available.
Maine JobLink
- Provides an overview of several funding opportunities available through government agencies.
- For Career Seekers: you can find active job postings, links to training programs, and information about funding for educational programs.
Competitive Skills Scholarship Program (CSSP)
- Funded through MDOL, this program provides funding and support services for eligible Maine residents to pursue two and four-year degree programs or employer recognized credentials.
- For Career Seekers: this funding is designed to support those are who undertaking a degree or credential for a job in a high wage, in demand occupation (Dental Assistants and Dental Hygienists included).
Healthcare Training for ME
- This program is available through Maine Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS). This website lists resources for both employers and their employees to fund training specifically in the healthcare sector. Priority jobs and training opportunities include Dental Assistants and Expanded Function Dental Assistants.

Maine Apprenticeship Program
- Funded through MDOL and federal investment. This is a structured, yet flexible training program designed to meet the specific needs of Maine employers through on-the-job learning and related classroom instruction.
- For Career Seekers: you can learn about open apprenticeship programs, eligibility, and how to apply. Apprenticeships allow workers to earn a wage while learning on the job that is paired with classroom instruction.
