Dental Radiographer

Unlicensed dental assistants in Maine can be trained and apply for a Dental Radiographer license. Dental Radiographers can expose dental x-rays under supervision of a dentist or an independent practice dental hygienist.




Certified Dental Assistant (CDA)

Unlicensed dental assistants in Maine may also elect to become a Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) by passing the Dental Assisting National Board (DANB) CDA exam. This is a training credential, not a state licensure type.

Expanded Function Dental Assistant

A dental assistant can be licensed in Maine as an Expanded Function Dental Assistant. This licensure expands the allowed duties of the dental assistant.
